About Us

What We Do

We build product, brand, and marketing systems engineered to scale — without sacrificing creative quality.

Background

Civelek&Sun is an independent design agency, based in Los Angeles and Berlin. Together we bring a blend of visual disciplines in UX/UI design, branding, marketing, strategy, fashion, physical product design, and photography. We're just as comfortable building systems as we are obsessing over the finest visual details.

Our Approach

We start with research — understanding the market and problem, building a strategy before designing the solution. From there, AI-native workflows help us engineer cohesive design systems — spanning product, brand, and marketing — allowing us to move swiftly from concept all the way through to frontend-ready code.

We're small, and we move fast. But speed is just the engine - the judgment, taste, and problem-solving capability behind every decision is human.

Career History

DERRICK SUN

Derrick is an independent multidisciplinary designer and strategist who has spent the past 15 years partnering with clients large and small, across industries and countries. His path runs through both agency and in-house leadership roles, including Creative Director & Partner at Literal Humans, a marketing agency in London, to Lead Designer at tech startup MeetEdgar, and Creative Strategist at eBay Inc., where he managed a cross-functional team. He began his career as a strategist and account lead, at a boutique branding agency, Innovation Protocol, in Los Angeles. He holds a B.A. in Public Relations & Communication Design from the University of Southern California, where he was awarded a Full Tuition Trustee Scholarship.

ETHEM CIVELEK

Ethem is a designer whose work runs from brand identities to digital products to physical objects, shaped by six years of working with clients across Europe and North America. He trained as a product designer, which still informs the way he works today: structure first, then the details. As an independent designer, he has worked with clients including HiringBranch and Remento on digital products, websites, brand systems, and marketing. Before going independent, he was a Product Designer at Modoplus in Hamburg. He holds a B.A. in Product Design from the Berlin University of the Arts, with studies at Tama Art University in Tokyo and ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena.
